I too thought the harsh vocals took quite a dive on this. Luckily there isn't much of it on this album.

most of my favorite tracks here are the ones without (or with very little) harsh vocals

Yeah that's why it's different. It's gotta be Toby screaming. I think the bassist was the guitarist. Toby, the main singer for most of the last decade, is now the bassist and secondary vocalist. And Devon is lead vocalist? I think??

Of course when it comes to Emery the secondary vocalist is always a main vocalist too.

Devin was the second guitarist but now splits bass duties with Toby and I think Toby has always done main Vox on most of the songs

they sound nothing like they did on their earlier albums, they've definitely taken a nosedive. Especially whatever happens on Jesus Wept. Hoo boy.

still love this tho

the questionable harsh vocals are done sparingly enough that it doesn't bring down the overall experience for me much. and the clean vocals are sooooo good

I continually forget to give this a second chance and I need to soon or it won't have a shot at my year-end list

Heh, I thought the harsh vocals were better on this.

But in general, harsh vocals are not a strength of Emery's. Glad to see less of them here.

Albums a banger for sure. Harsh vocals were fine. I didn't think they detracted much from the record at all.. but I also have never been a fan until now, so maybe I just lack the context

It's an odd record, but it flows well. They are basically alt rock with a few moments of post-hardcore and it works. Production is great, songwriting is great, vocals are really good (bar the screams), and cover art is ok. Guitar, drums and bass have never been more fun on an emery album too.
