finally saw this on Friday
takeaways/ positive: love the minimalist way the movie was shot just the like the original, all the little nods to sequels, the plot completely ignoring all other sequels including the brother sister angle put forth in II, Best rendition of the shape since I, Carpenters score
takeaways/negative: jamie lee curtis was too over the top, most of the subplots were too far fetched (even for a horror sequel). see things coming from mile away, def. left me wanting more; i was like "really, it is done"
overall it was fine, was hoping for more, but worth the watch

maybe I'm just immature but the comic relief in this movie had me and my friend rolling. so good

I just didn't like the comic relief during my kill scenes, but the rest worked for me

the thing I really liked about this movie was actually having a sense of what other people in Haddonfield are actually... like, rather than it just being a few babysitters, a few cops and literally nobody else. Gordon Green did a great job just populating it with weird, specific characters who didn't really add anything but actually made the setting feel real and lived-in
and the little black kid was fucking hilarious lmao

Halloween I prided itself in no comic relief after it got rolling, kills with comic relief make it seem ridiculous not scary or intense

remove the comic relief from H2018 and you've got another by-the-numbers boring sequel that's just slightly more competently directed than the other trash since the original. at the very least this film should be allowed to marginally nudge at a 40-year-old formula, no?
|
| |
I like the fact this movie embraces its more humorous/campy side.
Shows self awareness as the premise of Michael Myers has descended into parody over the years.
|
| |
in a good way they can, the way they did it did not do anything for me, change is only good when it works
and to relegate Laurie Strode to what ever she was in this movie was by far the worst thing ever in the franchise

"remove the comic relief from H2018 and you've got another by-the-numbers boring sequel"
oooook gonna have to stop you there, the comic relief was few and far between and occasionally missed (peanut butter on my penis? banh mi vs. pb&j?). This movie did a lot of things right, the funny black kid was just one of many things that differentiates it from the other sequels

well that was 5 minutes of the movie, and he was funny, they did that part right, one of the scarier sequences of the movie, most others bordered on the ridiculous.
It got off to a bad start with the English "reporters and the spectical of them being on the roof, and bringing out the mask, totally knew they would be first and were he would get the mask,

Just saw the movie. Absolutely fucking loved it! Easily my favorite of the Halloween sequels.
|
| |
Yeah this movie was a solid 8 for me, really dug the visuals and character work

The most ferocious Myers ever. That scene in the bathroom was traumatizing.
