That sounds incredible. Can't say any of my school-adjacent events were that cool.
My last Sophie show was at a free show in a 100ish cap club in Miami with Boys Noize. It was during Miami music week and Boys Noize brought out Skrillex as a special guest halfway through his set. Both sets were incredible. Truly a special and fun ass night I will never forget

final album?!
I didn't expect anything else for quite obvious reasons, but it does happen occasionally (sometimes quite famously)
Cool, looking forward to it. Hopefully it adds to Sophie's legacy, once the dust has settled etc.

I typically hate posthumous releases but pretty stoked on the new SOPHIE music. Her younger brother is curating the new album so I'm trusting the process

Posthumous releases have contributed some really great additions to artist's repertoires over the years, but they do always seem a little uncomfortable morally, so that's understandable. Context matters of course
If her brother is involved then at least it will presumably be coming from a good place / for the right reasons. A tribute of sorts

From the press release it seems it was nearly completed before her death, given the timeline from the previous it makes sense. Not another b-sides “album” to milk an artist who has passed

Happy birthday to her. Such an incredible artist and beautiful album

She made music while others spent time and energy to be "cant be fucked" types

anyway
amazing + iconic that she made it all the way to the google frontpage. well-earned reflection of how her legacy has only grown
still don't know how i feel about this album as a whole, but it says enough that i've heard echoes of everything i dig about it in however many other albums since its release

I'm really excited to hear (and write about 🤫) what her new one is gonna be like. I'm intrigued so far by the singles and im glad her brother is in charge of curating it, even though I've already seen a bunch of her fans acting like they would know better what she wanted lol
and this album in particular is so beautiful and crushing and successfully encapsulates the difficult/hopeful reality of finally accepting and living as your legitimate and actual self that is the trans experience for so many people. one of the few modern albums I'm 100% confident will be remembered for generations

"God I loved Sophie, she was an all time cunt server"
Cunt Server would be a great name for a queercore band

You're acting like it doesn't already exist

I respect her and what she did for music more than I enjoy the music, died way too young
