Funnily enough, when I first spun this record I thought I liked IG more, until I went back and listened to it. IG is definitely a catchier album, but the variety on this is what puts it a step above imo. Acceptance Speech would be a lot better too if they just fixed Tilian vocal effects. Still wouldn’t touch ArSe though

I think this is easily the most diverse thing they’ve done with Tilian. It just keeps growing and at this point I might like it almost as much as Happiness. Easily an AOTY contender.

It's totally in my top 5 of the year so far
@spirit yoooo, I'm super surprised at how slowly it's growing on you. Don't worry, it'll get there ;]

Definitely AOTY contender, agreed. There’s been a lot of great albums this year, but this one is sticking with me a lot more than new music I hear normally does. Usually I ditch albums after a couple listens to move onto the next thing. Have probably spun this record at least 20-some times so far though and it still shows no signs of slowing down.

It's not going to beat the new Pianos Become The Teeth album for me, and mewithoutYou is supposed to release a new album this year and I already know that's an automatic number 1 for me haha.

Yeah, new MWY is probably the only real thing that could come out and easily take the top spot for me. Just the fact that my two favorite bands are probably gonna have albums this year is a good problem to have.

I wouldn't even put this in my top ten right now most likely, but it may grow on me enough later to do so

I don’t even know if I have 10 albums I love enough to make a top 10 yet this year. This, Brian Fallon, Greyhaven, TWY, and Hop Along are my top albums so far.

I'll need to listen to this more but it could maybe land in my top 10 so far. On the fringes though.
current top 10 is Typhoon, Rolo Tomassi, Republic of Wolves, All the Luck in the World, The Wonder Years, Brandi Carlile, Jon Hopkins, Lack the Low, Barely Civil and Midas Fall.

The wonder years disappointed me this year tbh. TGG or Suburbia is still my favorite of theirs.

It's official, the greatest Jon Mess line comes off this album: "The only reason I'm alive is waiting for the A.I. to do some tight shit and lemme suck its fucking dick."

I thought his best line was
"I couldn't wait to tap into the brain of my cat
And let him know he's my widdle baby meow meow boo"

"What’s it like to be a marble?
Did I get something in your eye?
She’s a referee, and I’m lethally
Overdosed on pumpkin pie
Yes the future is mount delicious son
But the leaf changes forms continuum
My destiny is calling me, it says
Jon Mess you should own a gun"
That's probably my favorite, from Pounce Bounce
