This album is great but Teen Dream has better, more emotional songwriting and a great, narrative flow. This is more just a collection of great songs but isn't always emotionally involving and never felt super cohesive to me.

I never understood precisely why people care more about storytelling than music itself. Is your life missing all the action and so you choose to experience it vicariously, through other people's words? If that's the situation, then doesn't that mean you will forever appreciate music closer to your native language? (the saddest possible position you can have as a music buff)
I'm all about vibes and this is their most vibratory album. Teen Dream remains mostly angsty tumblr music to me, an experience that's musically pixelated at best.
