Or that could mean it's not the standard Underoath sound

I have this ready and downloaded but I'm scared to listen. I have a feeling this will be 3 or below, which is crazy because all of the Spencer era albums have been a 4 or higher to me so far

the style isn't the problem bc they've done it before (paper lung) and it was good. this isn't good

Looking at their discography as a whole, this sticks out like a sore thumb. I don't want them writing another TOCS or Disambiguation, I just want solid progression like they've done on each album. This isn't it.

Bmth doesn’t have their own sound. They made a recycled hard rock album with early 00s influence from a ton of different bands from that time with electronic pop sentiments mixed in. If anything BMTH drew influence from Underoath with Sempitertnal. That’s the spirit was not innovative at all and was truly a decent at best album. This album has some very dark aspects and excellent dynamics that fit into Underoath’s overall catalogue despite some sounding a bit more hard rock tinged than usual. It’s a refreshing change of pace for them honestly and a nice way for them to return after a long time gone. Dudley is really the unsung standout on this album and let his electronic prowess really set the tone similar to NIN. His work is brilliant on this.

"this is still significantly better than the dallas albums"

I think the dallas albums are good except act of depression

This is “That’s The Spirit” lite. Agreed.

Comparing this to that’s the spirit is a slap in the face to Underoath and really makes no sense
