I always enjoyed MoP. When I first bought it, I played it to my friends and they all thought it was noisy cr*p. Then Black came out and they wanted to borrow MoP - go figure. As to whether MoP is overrated, that's all to the good. It makes a change for some-one to at least claim that they like the music I listen to. I enjoyed the review - though I didn't agree - but like said, I'm surrounded by people who constantly assure me that MoP is cr*p - the gloss provided by Black has long since worn off.

Drunken Viking,

You obviously dont know what your talking about. Im not disagreeing with your rating, thats your opinion, but this album is so diverse in terms of guitaring and riffs. A well written review, but your biased opinion gets in the way. James Hetfield does have a terrible voice though.

i agree with the_wizard, this was a diverse and amazing album. one of the greatest metal albums of all time possibly. but i think JH used to have a great voice for thrash, but now hes kinda to melodic when it comes to singing.

But there was no need to do this... i mean cmon! if you did this with every album, then no album would be good. seriously, anyone can find fault with an album. This Message Edited On 01.24.07

Well, it's a sight better than claiming he's doing it for attention, even if you're still wrong.

your biased opinion

Brought to you by the Department of Redundancy Department.

When are you people going to learn that an opinion is bias.

Yeah, god forbid anyone ever question Metallica.

Why not Metallica?

You're just trying (in vain) to make extremely bad excuses for your own inability to deal with somebody attacking one of your sacred cows.

Because Metallica's a popular band that has gone mainstream, which automatically makes it the band to target, while all the criticisms in this review as well as others can be applied to any Thrash album (especially Slayer, lesser for Megadeth)

What does my rating have to do with it? You're making excuses and doing an extremely bad job of it. Just admit it.

What? What the fuck?

Look, you're taking the piss on a negative review of one of metal's sacred cows. To try and make yourself sound logical, you're making bad excuses for why the review was unnecessary. I would have respected you more if you had just called the reviewer a goat fucker. Your exact words were as follows:

But there was no need to do this... i mean cmon! if you did this with every album, then no album would be good. seriously, anyone can find fault with an album.

How much crack did you have to smoke to think that would convince anybody of anything? What did you hope to accomplish by saying something so glaringly stupid?

I thought MoP had some very tastful speed metal songs/elements to it. Metallica were around in a time where the 'basic rock beat' grooves were at their prime, and Lars is a known master at this. You do have some valid points on Kirks solo's thought, i rarely hear him solo without his wah peddle cranking. But i like the acoustic elements in Battery and Master of Puppets, It reminds me a little of Opeths style.
