New single Cathedral Bell dropped today.
Might be the minority on this but I’m surprised by how much I like it.

Still mad at them for firing Quinn so I will continue to hate. Makes it easy since all the new music yearly now is ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass

new album is actually kinda good? surprised how much I like Cathedral Bell and Gravity's Rainbow especially, I want more of that. Blow Me is still garbage but it's a misdirect
|
| |
there's a used song called gravity's rainbow?! lolll

there's Infinite Jest and Paradise Lost references on the new one too. I'm just out here waiting for them to drop a House of Leaves song ngl

new one has a lot of good ideas and a lot of bad ones. not sure what outweighs the other yet

yeah maybe I spoke too soon, a third of it is really damn awful. the fuck are they doing with that Hoppus song lmfao
but hey it's still probably better than half their other albums
|
| |
"there's Infinite Jest and Paradise Lost references on the new one too"
lmao is this for real
"but hey it's still probably better than half their other albums"
and also this? better than In Love and Death and Vulnerable?

the hoppus song wouldve been fine if bert wasn't so unaware of his fucking vocal range but the chorus is like piercingly awful
only albums id put under it are imaginary enemy and vulnerable, and repeated listens are having it grow off me but its got enough good ideas that i think a decent album can be playlisted out of it. this and ilad are definitely better tho

yeah like the chorus on The Lighthouse might be one of the worst I've ever heard, I burst out laughing lmao
it's better than Vulnerable, and I actually like that album a fair bit - the new one reminds me of that with a bit more diversity and interesting instrumentation (some dope strings). not better than ILAD, but immediately better than Lies for the Liars, and I assume Imaginary Enemy which I've never listened to
|
| |
hmmm okay being better than good-take Vulnerable is enough to convince me, will check
|
| |
Lies for the Liars is amazing for being the most unapologetic singles-only album ive ever heard from a rock band maybe ever idk

it's incredible how the first three songs are really quite good and then it takes an immediate left turn into being one of the worst albums of all time ye
|
| |
indeed although Paralyzed to this day is a top-grade guilty pleasure trash jam. everything after that is hilariously indefensible
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.7
Paralyzed is at least catchy, I guess, whereas Wake the Dead and Smother Me are some of the worst songs released by anybody ever
|
| |
Wake the Dead possibly the only zombie song released by a hot topic band that has the power to make A Little Piece of Heaven seem like a compellingly structured work of operatic beauty

...I used to love A Little Piece of Heaven when I was 13. don't tell the cool kids
