I haven't really dug them since Ascendency and that's because I was in High School.
But I will admit, In Waves was a fun time.

I've been back and forth on this album. Some of the choices they made for vocals are a bit offputting (Betrayer, Sever the Hand) and come off as contrived at times and downright lazy in others, but the instrumental work on the album comes from so many places. It has a feel of In Waves in that sense. I can't say this album is better than any of their first five, but definitely the best out of the last three.

nahhh might be better than the previous 2 but even In Waves with its passable mediocrity wrecks this one. That album was just kinda uneventful but not inherently bad.

It's entertaining, but I do take their point about there being alts rating 5s. To be fair I was shocked to see a Trivium album rated as high as 4 even before its release date.
