If I remember the interview correctly they said he collaborated on three songs. Beneath It Sleeps is the the only song he actually played on though.

Edit: 4 songs. None of This is the Truth, Enter Oblivion, Last of the Monuments, Beneath it Sleeps.

I wouldn't have guessed the first one, but Last of the Monuments screamed Norris to me on first listen, the ending in particular. Which is probably the single best section on the entire album, go figure.

Durrzo, thanks for the clarification. I thought the same about Last of the Monuments which is why I asked. Kris is an exceptional guitarist; anyone who can write Tunguska without a guitar in front of them is unbelievably talented. They made a good choice in bringing him in to help.

Being able to write Tunguska without a guitar in front of you isn't just about "unbelievable talent" - a good grasp of music theory will get you very far when it comes to writing down stuff and knowing it will sound good. Which Kris evidently does have, according to a podcast with him that I heard. But Kris is also very talented, there is no denying that!

Lelle, I agree. I wasn't saying that he was only good at plucking strings. Just listen to any of his interviews, namely his ones with Jamplay, and you can tell he's a music smart dude.

I think that 3.7 is fitting. It is undoubtedly better than THR, which the rating reflects, yet it is not on the level of Undoing Ruin or Deliver Us, which the rating also reflects. 3.7 is in smack-dab in-between THR and Undoing Ruin/Deliver Us.

Since Deliver Us is my favorite I... don't know how I feel about this album.

The "Hardcore-esque" tone kinda throws me off. The writing is definitely there though. Maybe I'll feel differently after a few listens.
