The tone here is perfect for me. When the guitars crash in so sweetly I get the best feeling. This is really special to me.

Gotta listen more to this. I currently have a creepy feeling the Ecailles is all the Alcest I need.

Ecailles is a great record, but this is as good. They are both very different records.

I had basically written this band off having been hugely disappointed by everything post Écailles de Lune and was in no way anticipating a return to this style. Thematically I find this really interesting and fresh, Neige conjures a unique atmosphere here that I think contrasts Écailles perfectly. Just wonderful.

And oh my, those drums.

"And oh my, those drums."

So much this.

It's pretty rare I get an emotional impact from drums in metal (you know, other than rage & fury anyway). But the drums here are pulling all kinds of heart strings.

winterhalter was always a superb drummer. not technically, he's not flashy or anything but his drumming is very tasteful and always enhances the music first and foremost

Whole band is that way honestly. Seeing them live, they just jam out, 2 guitars, bass and drums, no wankery, nothing flashy, just 4 guys jamming out and sounding incredible together.

Agreed dude. Their live performance is spot on and I was impressed with their ability to recreate their sound. Loved this on first listen, and more and more on sequential listens.

Please tour in Utah. Do you guys know if they usually make a fair round in the states?

Hey look, you guys can be buddies. When they came through Richmond, VA several years ago there were like 20 people at the show. It was sad how few people showed up, but it was amazing to hear a bunch of Ecailles live.

Us Utahns have to stick together.

I saw them opening for Anathema when they came through, Anathema did great but Alcest was truly magical.
