Album is fine. for neurosis standarts thats a little dissapointing. I dont enjoy their music as i did two years ago anyway, so maybe its that element of it.
I miss the original new ideas in this and the epicness of the whole composition as a whole. This feels like an ep with 5 clumped together songs which are fine as pieces themselves but dont form a cohesive and intruiging whole.

its neurosis so it could take time to grow but right now its feeling like 2.5/3 range to me. cant blame em these guys have been around so freaking long, and for most of it have been so mindblowing and consistent, I mean their all like over 50, how much longer are they gonna be able to write top notch songs

I think people who are disappointed by this only have themselves to blame.
To have expectations that a band that's been around this long will be putting out revolutionary music in 2016 is crazy. This is exactly the kind of album they should be making. It covers a lot, if not all, of the territory they've explored over the years - and it does so in a concise, well packaged album. Nothing drags, there are no wild musical tangents, everything is well fleshed out.
Plus it's much better than Honor.
