This is better than Shadows, but both are nice.

@Crysis I don't know man. There's still quite a lot of intricacies and nuances in the soundscape here. Plenty of great riffs. Everything goes with the story really well. I always felt like At the Gates of Sleep and Devoid of Caring, as good as they are individual, hurt the flow of that album.

Not trying to change your mind or anything, just saying. This is boss. I detect zero bumbling. If anything this is very methodical and interconnected.

Seems to be a dividing album, don't see why though. Rules hard.

I dont see how anyone could rate their other material significantly higher then this, it's got all the melodeath riffs, chord progressions and acoustic passages one could ask for from Insomnium, unless your were expecting a bit more sonic experimentation, or you're oppose to the single trck structure and short run time but they're not an issue for me.

This is definitely best in one sitting from start to finish. I've tried starting on like the 4th or 5th sections so I can get more exposure to the latter half of the album, but it doesn't work as well. They really succeeded in writing an interesting 40 minute long song.

Yeah I can't even believe this year, the stars really aligned. This album will be top 10 for me at least, only given in a few full listens though so I'm still not completely familiar with it's movements yet.

Honestly it took me I think 4 or 5 spins before I started to catch certain passages that are repeated fairly closely.

There's a few places that sound completely new at first but they're actually revisions of a section they did a few minutes earlier. Very subtle. Very awesome.

I need to get on this. Dug their last album pretty hard.
