Lark/All Mirrors is great and all but as soon as we get to What It Is, things just go into overdrive
lest we forget Endgame, that's an all-timer

ok wait so is the new album St. Vincent art pop or Weyes Blood art pop, or is it a bit of both?
|

midsection reminds me of beach house’s 7, that whole dreary grey washed-out palette

neither boney
it has more in common with Have You in My Wilderness and the 60s Scott Walker albums, to these ears
it's also better than both of those, easily

I don't know the Scott Walker 60s albums but HYIMW commonality is promising

it's very subtle although it's not too prominent (listen to Duchess for what I'm trying to get at)

really looking forward to the new album, Congleton has been a producer on a bunch of records that I adore

t/t second half pumps my soul, so good.
Half through the album now, it's interesting so far. Mastering a bit too much though.

New one is great, luci’s nuts. Like this album the first half has the tunes but the second half is where it’s gets real, last five tracks are absolutely lovely. I’m a sucker for those slow dreamy ballads.

love that it got the same pitchfork score as beach house's 7, dislike it for similar reasons
i've been dreading listening again but i should now that it's out
at least robin agrees that it's "utter shit"

Last year's Eleanor Friedberger was stronger ah hahhah ha
The joke is on me but still - I really think that.
At least phrases stuck out as interesting on that album with her cut and paste approach. This seems like an album that is happy to float in the middle range, very safe melodically. Needs the orchestration to bail her out at times.
Certainly the music is pretty enough to bag a 3.
