On first listen this has its moments - album is too long

You could have the most perfect voice in the world (Blake doesn't) and even then this long a vocal-centric album will become an endurance test

bit wanky but it's decent

Definitely too long, if he cut it down to the best 10-12 tracks it would be better.

I can't tell if this is supposed to be a double album or not - I can excuse excessive length if it's purposeful, but it doesn't feel like it is here.

Yeah I agree, there's no need. A bit too much of the same. Imagine if Carrie & Lowell was an hour and twenty minutes. It wouldn't be as good.

Tbh if he cut it down to just just an hour, so about 3-4 tracks cut out, this could definitely be my AOTY

Everything from Choose Me onwards is really fucking good, but everything before (bar the opener) is pretty lacklustre imo

You don't like 'Love Me In Whatever Way'? I'm only two listens in but that one has stuck already.

Album is really long so no idea what rating it's got yet. I loved Overgrown and so far this feels more solid but without as many high points which is odd considering how long it is.

Nothing between Radio Silence and Choose Me has really stayed with me thus far, but I need to listen more. Having said that, if the album was a 9-track of featuring Radio Silence, Choose Me and everything thereafter, it'd be an instant classic for me.

Yeah I think we all need to listen more to be honest! Songs like Digital Lion and To The Last were huge growers for me on Overgrown so who knows how this one will shape up after another few listens, can't believe how quickly this got a review!

honestly I wish James Blake would cut the solo piano tracks out of his sound

his electronic stuff is far more interesting to me, and some of it is truly brilliant on this album

"Tbh if he cut it down to just just an hour, so about 3-4 tracks cut out, this could definitely be my AOTY"

Spent half an hour trying to remember my password for this site just so I could emit hyperbolic praise on this album, totally worth my time.
