"hese last two albums have been textbook examples of a band maturing in all the best ways"

how is it that in 2017 a band can play boring tech death but because they use a lot of reverb people think it's good?

I guess if one member of the band had to go, Alex may be the most replaceable. Gotta say I was interested in his sampling / programming / whateverthefuck else, and he had a few really great shining moments. Founding member, though. Super nice dude who let me into his show for free for bringing him local beer.

They put that delay wanky guitar all over the place on this. It's so tiring and repetitive. It makes every song sound the same!

One subpar album doesn't mean the band is ruined, come on. Especially since this is still great, only not so much by their standards

Makes me want to make a "not sure if you've noticed but they haven't been deatchore ever since their first LP" joke, but that's beneath me

band was at its best on nomad.

The harvest wombs was great too, but everything except those two is either weak or bad.

I thought the more atmospheric/ethereal approach still suites the band well although "The Flesh Prevails" and "Nomadic" were certainly much more passionate and climactic. This is still a hella good record though.

not sure my 4.5 is really that accurate anymore, more just me fellating fallujah and offsetting these disgraceful ratings but still rly good album
