I first heard an excellent live version by Phish. When I realized it was a Grateful Dead song, I gave it a spin and didn't regret it. Song was still better.

Ars if anything, when it comes to this album in general, the main focus to me was the instrumentation rather than the lyrics. Considering Bowie has been using the cut-up style of songwriting on and off since Diamond Dogs, I wouldn't be surprised if he used it for Girl Loves Me, even with the Polari/Nadsat lyricism garble all over it.
