So polished. It hurts my ears.

Yeah it's clean as hell, but the music itself is awesome.

An overly polished sound only bothers me if the music is robotic or lifeless, but that's no problem here.

It's the kind of polish that gives some post-rock its strength though

Well post rock usually needs some sort of polish. I haven't came around many raw post rock bands in that sense. Though I wouldn't call this post rock really. It's get some influences from it.

Yeah but what I mean is that the polished sound brings out the best of the post-rock influences on this

it's like the same mid-paced thing with the same melodies and crescendos for 40 minutes tho

the clean sound isn't the problem, i think the problem is the sound and writing in the drum department. easily the weakest part of this recording. it would have sounded a lot less samey if there were some more interesting fills and drum patterns throughout.

I think it's the ripping off of mono and how it comes across like it's trying to be emotional 100% of the time. The previous album was full on too but it was heavy so it came off more like 100% intensity rather than 100% cheese. I do like this though, they execute well. Just a big disappointment after their previous works.

Ripping off Mono??? Mono never ever came to mind here.

They directly lifted multiple melodies from Hymn to the Immortal Wind.

Wait, maybe you haven't heard For My Parents. This album sounds exactly like For My Parents in its aesthetic. Pair that with the melodies that were lifted off Hymn to the Immortal Wind. For My Parents sounds a lot different from Mono's other works.

Idk man Godspeed keep to mind more than anything. Haven't heard parents, but I tend to be more forgiving when it comes to something sounding like something else.
