"he should take vocal lessons or smth"

A certain Mr Ron Anderson is listed as vocal coach is on the Genexus booklet... that's a first.

Wahou ! That's actually encouraging. Better late than never.

And Timelessness is great but we were discussing "best closer" and Timelessness simply isn't (one of the best closer), as great as it is.

I like "human shield" a lot too but I would never call it "best closer."

Mechanize, The Industrialist and Genexus work very well as a whole, one super album of 28 tracks.

They will never top Final Exit as a closer though [2]

If we're talking about post-Obsolete albums, this ranks just under Mechanize for me. And that's mostly because Mechanize laid the groundwork for most of the songs here.

Still, even though the band doesn't stretch toward new ground very often (the last four tracks are an exception, at least in my opinion), it's great to hear Burt, Dino, Rhys and New Drummer playing their collective hearts out. The Industrialist had some great tracks (God Eater and Depraved Mind Murder were killer) and an interesting concept, but it felt a little flat after the blast of molten robotic metal that was Mechanized.

MFW, Fear Factory have made their best album since Demanufacture/Obsolete days and people can't recognise it. Probz cause unwarranted dislike of Digimortal.

Only back the fuck is though man, the rest you could argue average, but not embarrassing. And i think final exit is a stronger closer than expiration, but the thing about mechanise sounds homogenised at some points and with some filler, while the songs one genexus feel fresh newer, each song has a catchy asf chorus.

I mean for fudge sake burton hired a vocal coach, they sound better live now than they have in along time, and they spent alot more time working on this, the song writing is just far more inspired people (at least on this site) seem to prefer a more aggressive fear factory, oh no he used autotune fuck burton if he lost it a bit and still wanted to put out a good album, it fits in with the aesthetic of their concepts anyway, fear factory really tried hard on this one man, and it payed off its catchy, groovy and it hits harder if you can really relate to their narrative, i mean you don't even need to relate if we dont die before this happens its just reality anyway,

so im sure theres some future in these songs you can picture yourself in, i know i can, and it enriches my enjoyment of the album as that future gets closer everyday.

Sorry for rant.

I think the key word is variety man, that what makes me put this just above mechanise, all the tracks feel like you could pick one off of each fear factory record Church of execution, digimortal as fuck, soul hacker obsolete edgecrusher, outro of protomech, demanufacture, zero signal. And the last three tracks which you cant because they actually changed thing up a bit, and they sound better more melodic not generic.

It' s a little bit of a grower for sure, but once it kicked, i realised they pulled it off and i find myself loving fear factory again after the solid but somewhat disappointing Industralist.

@lardplanet "oh no he used autotune fuck burton if he lost it a bit and still wanted to put out a good album" I think he's always used autotune.

I agree it's their best since Obsolete and it feels good to hear a new true FF album.

True, but it seems a bit more noticeable and criticised on this record though.

Kill have you checked out the band City of Fire? It has Burton C Bell as the vocalist.

A few weeks ago I was debating here about some Indouchiness Burton had done while in City of Fire, and I have finally found relevant quotes. So if anybody is still interested, here goes:

--Also i heard that reason why this LP (Trial through fire) was delayed so many times is because of Burton. I found some posts from the manager of CoF on their official (Facebook) page; this is very interesting reading:--

"There is no one to blame but one person. The record is done, but someone didn't see it as a priority. It was my fault for trusting someone I have known for 15 years and thought I could trust him about anything. I realized too late that I couldn't trust him as he seems to lie constantly. He lies to himself as well, not just me and everyone else he knows. He owed me for this web site too...only when I put up the quotes of "honesty" did he feel like paying me off for that. I accepted the lost over all as I am somewhat at fault. Mostly for trusting a friend I adored, and not having the proper paper work in place (I couldn't because there was legal problems with another investor they had on the first record). I also can't put this album out on my own as Burt won't sign paper work, and my label is distributed through a major, so I can't afford to get them in trouble by Burt either. So at the end of it all, I will continue to work 7 days a week for about 5 more years to pay it off, but all it is is a hard lesson learned. I love Bob, Byron and Terry. They are amazing and wonderful people and made a great album. This is their band. Not Burtons"

"After Burton fucked me for over 30K and delayed this project himself - not answering emails, phone message, or getting the paper work done - there is no one else to blame. I wouldn't put another penny into this because I am already in debt for it. Considered all other ways out of it as well. I am doing my best to keep you updated and inform you as I feel the fan base still needs to be updated. Do you see anyone else doing it? Burt is the only person holding up everything."

"It is not that simple[to release the album] as Burton wouldn't sign off the paper work I couldn't release it just that way as I have a company and it goes through Universal and I couldn't afford any lawsuits. Their former "investor" will be releasing it. but not until the PLEDGE MUSIC fans get it first."

Seems like this band may have a new vocalist in the future, since Burton stopped communication with the band all together long time ago.

The End.

Sounds to me like he realised that music was trash (which it is) still shouldn't have acted like that though.
