i think the biggest mistake was to release let it happen 5-6 months prior to release. that's way too much time in between. doesn't help that there were 4 singles prior to release too. if there had only been one single to lead up to the album, this would be regarded better.

^my thoughts exactly. hearing "let it happen" as the opener on the album for the first time would've been mindblowing. but i listened to that song 100+ times before the album came out. same goes with "eventually". the people who are just checking out the album now will have a better experience for sure
