I used to not be into BM. Then it hit me full force like a stack of bricks and I loved basically all of it.

no more like catatonic/zzz

Only black metal I was into for the longest time was Dissection, then I forced myself to listen to Burzum s/t. Been hooked ever since.

Really? I wonder what flipped the switch for you, since Dissection is basically tremolo melodeath
|
| |
Thats why I liked Dissection, I used to be all about that melodeath. Burzum/Aske just flipped a switch in my head and I was like, I need more of this. Then I moved on to Darkthrone, then spread further from there.
I remember back in early highschool a buddy gave me a couple later Bathory albums and I liked them but never dived deeper to get into stuff like Under the Sign

"Rabble rabble occvlt rabble rabble objectivity in music rabble rabble elitism rabble rabble"
One day you'll understand
|

so this is on my to check bm list but I'm afraid I'm going to hate the symphonic elements
|
| |
They aren't overbearing, in my opinion. I expected some cheesy symphonic crap to hit my eardrum at some point when I first listened and I never had that moment.
|
| |
They actually add something to the atmosphere, in a good way ofcourse.

it's basically just blasty bm with a lot of melodic leads and some synths to make it even more busy.
|
| |
Alright, I have a buddy who will lend me this. Worth a shot.

Up here in the fortress of the elites we're amused by your chatter.
It's like seeing homeless people discuss who are most suitable to be king.

when you think about it you just said we're amusing due to our better perspective and objectivity.

When elites venture outside their ivory tower they find it possible to shape opinion of the unwashed masses.
Everybody around here has actually been pretty nice to me as I've been exploring BM and its history.

It wasn't like that in the trve nineties lemmetellya.

What about trve 80's and the days of international tape traders?
|

Black metal fans are only nice so you listen to the trve shit we recommend and not the pleb trash others recommend, gotta sway you to the good side of BM. Now about Darkthrone..
|
| |
Well then hit me...I'll listen to anything to see if I like it. Haven't found that album that is definitive BM for me yet. I have found how incredibly varied the genre is, which really surprised me.

I'm not that old, but the legends say they were a good-natured people, all clad in denim.

The start of I Am The Black Wizards is so ridiculously good. That distortion channel.
