If there's one thing this album has that some of their more dense releases didn't, it's that this seemed a bit easier to listen to. A little more accessible maybe. Could just be that there are only six tracks, sometimes that fools me into feeling like an album is easier to jam.

Its better then a poor effort but i agree with people saying it feels like they are going through the motions on here.
I can understand tho, you can only do so much with a certain style no matter how unique and interesting it is, so getting to that point is expected for band that stick to a certain style.

The formula may become tedious in the years to come, unless they change it up of course. But they always get points for originality in my book.

^oh for sure, they definitely made Black Metal more interesting by giving it the progressive influences.

now they're basically just prog metal with some bm influences tho

Its been like that since Vertebrae. Below the Lights/Isa is where they blended the two styles the best.

Isa, below the lights, and Axioma Ethica Odini called all be their best album depending on my mood, I usually like Isa best though
Monumension is probably next best (and it is by far their most underrated release)
RIITIIR is probably next best
followed by Ruun and In times
then Vertebrae is by far the worst of their prog days (its still a 4 though)
Even though I really liked all their stuff I don't ever really find time to listen to stuff before Monumension because I like their later style better

Well this really isn't bm in the traditional sense, but I love these guys just because they mix dark textures with lighter textures so well. They no how to use dissonance and melody in a way that I think is beautiful.

Axioma marked the beginning of their return to black metal mixed with progressive, unlike the few before which were mainly just prog metal
