Exactly. The opener, for instance, "VI Scose Poise", is such a depressing tune. I find "Pen Expers" and "Bine" to be very melancholic and deeply saddening as well.

going 2 go against the grain and say that aside from a few choice examples (the ones hans listed notably) i dont think most of their music past lp5 is very emotional. the way ive always thought about it is more that their music is like a rorschach test, wherein the emotional and experience-based aspect of their music is rooted in how you directly react to it and perceive it. like almost nothing on this sounds very emotional to me, but the textures and atmospheres they create are so distinctive and abstract that ive had some very visceral experiences with how i perceive it

Well that's that subjectivity and all. I just know that it affects me emotionally. That being said, your emotions are broken KMan, and you are dead to me.

This album is very emotional in the sense of it being pretty much the most alienated-sounding thing ever recorded. Like, Uviol is pretty much the soundtrack to being stuck in a capsule floating through interstellar space.

Most of their stuff doesn't really affect me emotionally, but Pen Expers and Notwotwo definitely did when I first heard them. Pen Expers feels like it is trying so hard to breathe but it can't

I think when people say this isn't emotional they mean in the traditional sense (Happiness/Sadness dichotomy) which is narrow minded but admittedly is what I mean when I say this isn't emotional either

That being said I have always thought the same line of thinking as Kman in that the emotion isn't found in the music but in the way that you perceive it. If there's any kind of emotional imagery to be found here it rarely seems to hold much weight beyond personal projection (Even though personal interpretation is completely valid in any form of art) and it's usually offset by the hospital-knife sterility/coldness of the album's sound
