Need to relisten to AHIG, but I can't see it being much better than this tbh

This is a good album, but it seems to me that Slipknot are trying way too hard to get back to their early days. That's not such a bad thing, but I think they are better suited to progressive/experimental musical environments (NOTE: I am NOT calling them progressive metal), where the band go out of their comfort zone. They achieve that here to a certain degree, but what really annoys me is how the metal parts don't often seem to get a chance to shine on their own, instead being infiltrated by electronic/industrial elements which make songs like "AOV" and "The Devil in I" slightly less bearable. I can pretty much guarantee people are going to disagree with me on this, but in my opinion this is Slipknot's least great album. Mind you, "Goodbye", "Nomadic" and "Be prepared for Hell" are by far the most outstanding songs from this album.

Some people talk shit about Stone Sour, but the House of Gold and Bones duo is better than anything Slipknot has ever done(except Vol.3, maybe)

There's just no way. I even kind of like Stone Sour, but everything I've heard from those albums is garbage.

House of Gold and Bones slaughters all of Slipknot's material, dude; sorry. This is coming from an avid Slipknot fan, too.

Yeah both parts rule hard, Pt 2 especially though. Imo they are both individually better than any Slipknot album besides maybe Vol 3.

Alright HOGAB defenders, answer this for me. Is Tired a fair representation of those albums' sound? because that song is
terrible to da max.

Nah Tired's not really a good representation of the albums sound, I mean it's hard rock and stuff but it's one of the weaker tracks, and Pt. 2 is pretty different from the first part as well.

"Slipknot >>> Stone Sour"

oh definitely, but however they did it, both parts of HOGAB beat nearly every Slipknot album.

I should really check them albums out. Can't stand previous SS records though. Will it convert the haters?

I don't know, they're much much better than any of their previous albums but if you hate SS it probably won't change your opinion.

Agreed, Slipknot try to experiment more and are generally a little less predictable
