Towers of Emptiness might be my favorite here, i'm such a sucker for slow, rumbling, heavy af bass tones

there's something off about this one for me... something about the production and the guitars don't sit right.

I think Justin's guitar is eating too much into the deep end, suffocating the bass.

For me it's s/t, us&them and streetcleaner.

Also, I heard in this Justin used an 8 string guitar, maybe there's something about that too that rubs me the wrong way. I still really like it, there's no Godflesh I actively don't like.

God this album is bleak. Forgive our Fathers is a perfect closer for it.

This is their heaviest album by a wide margin. The guitar tones are hardcore-ish and bleak, yet the tempo is slow and groovy, like a huge mammoth taking a walk in some lost catacombs. It's a nice addition to their discog but far from their best form imho.

"This is their heaviest album by a wide margin"

nah... certainly not by a wide margin considering I think a lot of their albums if not all of them are solid contenders

I think I'd go with Pure - I see why you'd say this one though... it's certainly relentlessly punishing, unforgiving and has a fairly singular pummeling sound I dunno maybe you right

It's great how this album just easily pisses all over other industrial metal and then they went back to doing whatever they feel like on the following one.
