what does tim lambesis’ ex wife that’s still alive bc he failed to hire an actual assassin have to say about all of this

"will someone bring Halperin into this discussion?"
thats just it tho. this isn't a case of "guilty until proven innocent". this is a case of "i have literally viewed evidence that this band made transphobic remarks"

An open letter to Potsy:
I hope you're having a good day.

if your point is that making one distasteful transphobic remark doesn't make you inherently transphobic just like sowing making ~misogynistic~ comments doesn't necessarily mean he's a full on misogynist then sure i agree but its still not a good look and people have every right to have shitty comments alter their opinions on people

they made abhorrent remarks about a very sensitive subject and community and I believe the aforementioned gender/feminist philosophers would welcome the discussion as to why we feel to be so overtly offended by these remarks. clearly they are bad but I like looking beyond the reductive claim of they're x-phobic trample them out.
|
| |
no freud would argue the opposite and that isn't what im arguing
|

I like looking beyond the reductive claim of they're x-phobic trample them out.
thats what i thought you meant. i don't disagree with that. so im not really sure what the problem is. we all agree they were shitty remarks.

not sure what freud has to do with anything

there isn't a problem here none of us like what they said but there are some of us who don't let it bother us as much as others. Are we bad people for that? I would say that someone like Halperin would say no but maybe butler would argue that because im am associating with someone who may not be overtly transphobic but certainly questioning the legitimacy of the transgender community that I too may have preconceived negative notions of aforementioned community. almost a guilt by association in a sense.

gender theory is truly interesting and im lucky to have been paid to read so much and write so much scholarship about the subject. unlike gyro I find it productive to bring in sources
|
| |
i dont think that makes you a bad person, it doesn't bother me that much either but i also don't think that everyone who is left with a bad taste in their mouth from something like that has to have the knee-jerk reaction of "they are now automatically deplorable and unforgivably transphobic". not everyone who read that and says to themselves "prob not gonna be associating with this band much" is guilty of this:
the reductive claim of they're x-phobic trample them out.

now if only I could find all that peer reviewed anti global warming scholarship ;)
|

lol
ftr i hope you know i wasn't comparing your comments to gyro i was just making a joke out of context
