I haven't jammed this in so long. Stillworld I revisited like a year ago and it was still pretty 3.5-ish territory.

God I do miss Ben's voice. iirc Steak recently described his lows as sound like he was swallowing the Earth and I think that's a perfect description. Just so much personality, and his scratchy screams sounded like he had to claw them out from deep within himself.
He seriously elevated this band for me. That, and I feel a bit of nostalgia for this. plug.dj days feel so far away now.

I honestly think he had the best lows out of anyone I have ever heard, and they hit that much harder contrasting with his fry

Yea I described his lows like that mars :3 and it's very true. I'm gonna copy paste my basic thoughts about this band I posted elsewhere:
even with recency bias, I still get more from stillworld and everchanger. Like I do truly supremely enjoy and even love marcus era IA, but something about Ben era is just what speaks most to me about progcore
Like the guitar work is so different, way more focused on tippy tappy leads which are my favorite, and the riffs are still throttling. I don't think the riff work has taken any dips but the leads are kinda too focused on atmosphere if you feel me. I miss hearing a wild tap lead take me on a ride if you get me.
Vocals are still super strong and I love Marcus, I think he fits this sound more than Ben would, but I have to wonder if this sound would be where they went if Ben was still here. I have said before tho that the sound only subtly changed, but as a progcore master ( :] ) I can tell the difference quite drastically.
Overall I gotta give Ben era the crown still but Marcus era is really damn good and I still haven't given a score lower than a 4.5 since the first EP lol

yeah def back all of that. ben era will definitely always have the crown for me this and stillworld were from another dimension. two of my favorite albums ever made
marcus era def the strongest progcore replacement era (even tho this does not top the erra self titled for me they are too much of a goddamn roller coaster lmao) but these albums just embody so much of why i love this genre, and the guitar work is a huge part of why. regardless, i am still very happy that they are as good as they are now

New album is pretty boring

I'm harsher on the newer era compared to most here, but in concept, I agree for the most part.
Also, having re-visited this officially? Damn, it might be better than Stillworld lads, but both hold up very well over the years.
