The recent Arctic Monkeys album, this and The 1975 LP has really brought out some attention to alt-rock, which is a good thing but I wish it wasn't so watered down

Pop is simply a style, I don't understand how any song can be a "pure" pop song cos most of the time it's just soft rock (see One Direction). It has characteristics, just how progressive music has time signature changes

of course not, I wasn't saying it. But then do you think The 1975 aren't pop because they play things in the "indie rock" style? If you say they're not pop then wow, i thought you were better than that. If you say they are then GOOD, cos it works the same for every genre out there.

wtf? what makes them so sonically pop? their instrumentation is no different to most rock bands. if you turned up the distortion on one of the guitars to make it metal, it would still remain a pop song.
