You know what. If they decided to not make another album and Twinge ended up being the last song they ever made, I could live with that. I definitely could not have said that about "Fizgig" or "Clones"

Twinge is prob my favourite off this

Yeah, I mean I'd love for them to continue, but if something happened and this was their last record, this would be one hell of a record to go out on

Lots of differing opinions on everyone's favorite songs. I'm not too used to hearing that, honestly.

so is this comparable to Foo Fighter's Wasting Light? in the sense that it's their most consistent album to date after a string of so-so releases?
that's kind of the image i'm getting from everyone's comments
(good) Wonder What's Next = The Colour and the Shape
(good singles, meh string of albums) This Type of Thinking--Hats Off = There is Nothing Left--Echoes,Silence
(consistent, best albums) La Gargola = Wasting Light
seems like a similar arc for both bands

I would say the arc of critical reception is similar, however Wasting Light was much more of a return-to-roots album than this
one is. Although I definitely see your point

I'm not extremely familiar with Chevelle, but from what I've listened to so far it seems they've been more consistent than the Foo Fighters.

If they made a whole album like twinge, oh man.

Even with the avg ratings as references Underflow, HOTTB and Sci-Fi Crimes aren't as frequently mentioned to me it seems, while WWN through Vena Sera are generally the ones that get the praise, which is a similar fate to what The Foos career has seen

Doubt it, Mongi, but I totally would listen to that

I would agree that Chevelle is more consistent than the Foo. Wasting Light is the only album I have by them that I honestly like all the way through.
Hats Off is the only Chevelle album I am not particularly fond of. WWN thru Sci Fi are all quality albums, Vena probably being my favorite.

Just realized that this is the first "soft" closer Chevelle has done since Bend the Bracket from TToT 10 years ago lol

@sapient
I never really liked the "soft" closers on Chevelle albums. I mean, they were okay, but never really memorable. It's weird because "Twinge" doesn't really sound like "One Lonely Visitor" or "Bend the Bracket." Lots more texture in "Twinge" and less just pure acoustic sounds.
For the record, "Prima Donna" from Hats Off... sounds like the soft closers. It's just technically not a closer.

Acoustic Chevelle songs are usually not good.

Pete's vocals on twinge are sweet
How you guys feel about Under The Knife? That's another standout for me.

The harmonies in the last chorus give me chills

Never heard any album by these guys in full, but from the songs I know, I can't believe this one's average score. Is it that good?

The only other one if heard is sci fi crimes but I think the general consensus is that this is a little different. Not drastically but heavier and more atmospheric
