Fear of a Blank Planet is a similar style; better than In Absentia and not as good as Deadwing
Signify is their second best album (after Deadwing) - the artwork captures the vibe of the album perfectly, and it's amazing...
Stupid Dream is okay but pretty overrated, pretty poppy though and worth a check
This and Up the Downstair are dreamy and psychedelic. I personally prefer Up the Downstair marginally, but they're both great.
I would listen to FOABP now, since you're into that era, and then if you want something darker go to Signify. If you like the tripper aspects of that, check this and Up the Downstair.

I may have to go on a PT listening marathon. I'm kind of in the mood for something non - indie folk anyway.
Thanks fellas.

No no, Fear of a Blank Planet is a natural and arguably stagnant progression. It's still a solid album nonetheless

No probs, post which your faves are when you're done :]

Yes sowing! This band is awesome and they have something for everyone in their discography so hopefully so won't be disappointed. What you starting with?

@Sowing: if you don't know where to start, I'd suggest you finish the era you're on now (In Absentia-The Incident) then go back and start from their mid-era with Signify, then jam Up The Downstair and The Sky Moves Sideways. If you're not sick of them by that point you can give The Sunday of Life a try, their most controversial album

"utd > this yea fight me"
Damn pretty sure this is the first time i agree with something Artuma has said. And i will never understand Jamie's hate for other PT album. Damn whats wrong with signify, stupid dream, and Lightbulb sun!

Signify>UtD>this=Stupid Dream

@Sowing Lightbulb Sun is good but kind of disjointed, Stupid Dream would be the best next step in my opinion. But you could as well go chronologically

Signify and In Absentia are nearly perfect for me and among my all time favs so I'd have to go with those two are my favorite PT albums. Then it's prob a tie between this and UTD.

Considering Sowing's only heard IA and Deadwing, it would make the most sense to finish off this section for their discog, as talons said.it's what he's used to (for PT at least), so maybe jumping into signify or stupid dream would be too big a jump

After finished that era I worked my way backwards and Signify was quite the surprise and it's still leaving its mark to this day lol

Yeah Signify is astonishing and probably their best

No, more like a handful of songs ;)

Agreed wi JT for once. A handful are great, buti wouldn't say it's any better than The Incident
|

Its way better than The Incident

Now let's not get carried away haha. The Incident feels somewhat incomplete due to how drastically short some of the songs are and is such a lesser version of their heavier era imo

Not to mention 25% of The Incident is interludes and filler while all of Signify is necessary
