I think they both kinda' suck, to be honest, but at least I can hear more of Gilmour's playing on AMLoR....

Well the few solos Gilmour plays on The Final Cut blow anything he plays on AMLOR out of the fucking water. The solo in Your Possible Pasts and particularly the one in Fletcher Memorial Home are some of his very best. In fact the latter might actually be my favourite solo of his.

It just means that ex-Barrett Floyd needs both Water and Gilmour to function best. Everything they did together is musical genius

^Rick was just as important to that functioning best as Gilmour and Waters were

IMO the final cut is by far the best thing Floyd or anyone associated w/ Floyd did after Animals

Hmm I'd say so but with your rating you might disagree, On an Island is a great jam

I was more thinking of Amused to Death by Waters though cos I prefer that to TFC

I've heard pieces of lots of it, including amused to death. I liked it quite a bit but TFC is a hard 4.5 for me

Maybe my statement was a bit over zealous for what I've heard, let me rephrase.

Nothing I've heard after Animals by anyone associated with Floyd touches TFC, and I'd be floored if anything I haven't heard came close

That said I guess I should check some more of it out. Just hasn't been a real high priority after what I have heard of it

@fordy TFC is a hard 4.5 for me too don't get me wrong but Amused to Death is perfect and from a lyrical standpoint is my favourite record ever

That's cool, that's how I feel about TFC. I love everyone in this band but I am quite partial to Roger

Well I mean there are so many Floyd albums that completely transcend music lyrically for me, especially dark side but as far as favorite albums where the lyrics are the true highlight of the album for me it's prob TFC. Everything on dark side is perfect tho so I have more to oogle over besides the lyrics

yeah Waters is my favourite lyricist of all time but I think he reached his height on AtD. Seriously, listen to that album whilst reading the lyrics and you will have a fucking experience
