Don't need to feel bad, there's plenty of better music out there to keep them company

@Artuma

Weighing Souls with Sand is the most dark album I've ever heard.

Production isn't awesome.. yet drums sounded like fucking plastic on Part 2, and it still is the band's best album.

No shit. Thanks for the update, Big Ben.

Allow me to rephrase my original comment: You can get hit by a bus if you think Metropolis Pt.2 is their best album.

Oh yeah you're one of those people who thinks Train of Thought is better than Scenes From a Memory, I forgot.

That's a bit of a stretch. They're about even.

I just sold my vinyl of Metropolis Pt. 2 yesterday for like $150 (US) bucks.

Dude why? It's easily one of their best imo. Probably my favourite actually.

There is less wankery on here than I expected, but ofcourse its still pretty contrived

i gave it a 4/5

things i like

Overture 1928 + Strange Deja-Vu

Fatal Tragedy

HOME

One Last Time

Dance of Eternity

The solo and climax of The Spirit Carries On

The acoustic parts of Finally Free

things i dislike

Through Her Eyes and The Spirit Carries On are better than LaBrie wailing like a girl on Goodnight Kiss, but don't hold a torch to classics like Disappear, Surrounded, Vacant, Wait for Sleep or even The Silent Man. Beyond this Life should have ended at about 8 & 1/2 minutes with the final chorus. The 1 minute "Through My Words" would have done better as the intro to "Through Her Eyes" and it would've sounded so much better.

things im indifferent to

The first three minutes of Finally Free and its extremely long fadeout that seems to only exist so Portnoy can dwiddle on his drums

I can understand why someone might prefer Images & Words and Awake but Scenes From A Memory shits on the rest of their discography besides those two imo (excluding A Change of Seasons).
