I've heard only smatterings of stuff from these guys, sounded good but also sounded like not my things. I see people calling this metal but that's not the impression I got from this band.

it's not metal....but it's not really anything else either. It has much more metal elements than Kayo's other post-choirs albums.

I mean that, disregarding my personal feelings and taste I would say it's a 4(If I was going to write an unbiased review),

but personally it's a 5.

Toby chimes in on how people feel about the vocals in Black Stone.

"People that don't like the vox in the first half of The Black Stone need to LEARN THEIR METAL. That's all I'm sayin'."

Objectively I'd rate this a 1.5 but after reading this I tend more towards a 1.

yes you sound smart and all, and you are probably, but who taught you? these things? a teacher at
school? your mom and dad? by someone? did you learn them yourself? when you learn them yourself, you
believe you have figured out the universe? answer please...from who did you learn what you know? and
what makes you think that you know "everything" based on you learning from someone else?

I admit to being a noob with this band and I've only heard Blue Lambency Downward which was really mediocre and turned me off from listening to anything else. However, I gave this a shot and the end of "The Black Stone" is a godly example of blackened death metal (it's what I hear) done perfectly. Didn't realize this band was so heavy and just realized they're related somehow to Maudlin the Well (awesome band). Yes, I just admitted the outer edge of my musical knowledge hahahaha. Probably going to check out the rest of their back catalogue.
