"This Is War" or "Closer to the Edge" would be my favorite song they've done

I don't even get why they chose to go for the style they have on here, if they wanted a more
electronic approach they should have made the songs quicker, avoided any "dance/pop" style tracks and
cut out all the string parts as they suck. A more nine inch nails style approach to the electronic
style would have been much better if they feel they wanted to go that way.

I would say up in the air and bright lights have many characteristics from cheesy dance. They aren't full on dance tracks I admit, but close enough. Up in the air especially, the offbeat single note melody, the constant kick drum beat, the way some of the snare rolls are done, some of the piano.. it feels to me like crappy dance mixed with arena rock.

I almost agree with the person who said Do Or Die is good, except for the fact that the chorus is horribly cringeworthy. I heard that Jared wrote like 90-something songs for this album. I wonder if the other 80 were awful or if maybe he picked the wrong 12

They are ok, nothing outstanding but they have made good songs and some enjoyable melodies, the problem with this band is that they are too pretentious for what they really are and this album was worse in this aspect and besides it has really bad snogrwritting, few creativity and the abuse of generic synths is annoying as fuck
