i think track 2-4 is the worst part of the album though : / just not huge on lean or book of love and the title track got boring after multiple listens.

tracks 2-4 are my favourite :P

no way lol how can that be? that's the slowest part of the album

To put it bluntly, Jimmy Eat World's latest album Damage is incredible.

slowest doesn't = bad. damage is really chirpy and feel-good with emotional lyrics; lean has a great groove to it, almost shoegazey in its layers of guitar and droney feel; book of love has gorgeous lyrics and really pretty acoustic guitar and bridge.

I hear you i'm still digesting the album so maybe i'll change my mind but i just don't like them as much as the other tracks

like i said before i really can't place any one song above or below another. if i'm just going to pick one song to listen to i always jump to book of love, but i can't say it's better than any of the other songs because they all work together in context. album is so consistent that i really can't rate the songs. i have no idea if they stand on their own well; i don't even know if any of the songs on here would rank in my top 20 jimmy eat world songs. for me this is an album album, not a song album.

I still say you should review it lol

Album so isn't a 5. Seems like standard JEW material, which is never a bad thing, but I wish they'd make something wholesome and rewarding again.
Clarity >>> Futures > Bleed American >>> Invented >>> earlier stuff = this > CTL

@ash Bit strange to just write off their pre-Clarity material as "earlier stuff". Static Prevails is fantastic in its own right and their debut is a fun listen.

I think it’s a pretty good album and better than their previous two. Please Say No has grown on me a bit but I think the last 2 songs are rather weak. The whole cassette sound kind of thing on You Were Good doesn’t sell me, and Byebyelove sounds rather repetitive in my opinion.
