My point was that it was not the writing process that took long, it was the orchestrations.
Sooooooooooooooooooooo he was still writing music, and some cheesy orchestrations at that!

Of course releasing the whole project in one go would have been better for us, but I suspect that financially splitting the releases is better for them.

So Jari has to make up financially for lost Time?

That assumes that people are going to remember (or even know about in the first place) that there are two records--not just one--and actually buy them both. If you sold one album for $25 instead of two for $15 each, you'd get quicker cash and not have to worry about advertising the second release. Plus the whole "So much material it needed TWO CDs!!" thing would probably entice people to buy it, since it would seem moar 3p1c.
But I'm assuming they might release it as a 2 CD set eventually anyway, for those reasons.
Still don't get why it took him +6 years to make this record. He could've payed a conductor to organize the music, gotten a live orchestra to perform it, and have made the money back to pay for both by now if he'd had the extra time to tour.

What kind of cover is this?!

Of course they will. Now you are getting the hang of it. With the strategy they adopted, they get 3 releases instead of one. Also Nuclear Blast obviously intends have the band on a consistent string of releases for the next few years, proven by them providing Jari with mobile stuff on tour to already work on future material.
The plan is probably something like:
late 2013 Time II is released
early 2014 the Time complete edition is released
new album in 2015
And no, I don't think that schedule is actually going to hold. New album in 2016 at the earliest if you ask me, cause stuff will probably still go to shit a bit, but that'd still be 4 years quicker than Time was.

Now why in the world would they wait so long to release the sequel? At this rate I won't even listen to it when it comes out because I'll still be pissed about the whole thing. :/

the exploitative release strategy is exactly why I don't feel at all bad about not purchasing this.

Out of necessity. Jari is going to mix it himself, but he can't do it while on tour and he says that it's going to take 4 months to mix. Also, record companies are dicks and don't like bands having releases too close to each other cause it supposedly lowers the sales or some such shit.
