There is way way way more variety on Depression Cherry than on Teen Dream, at least for me

Agreed hard. I would say depression cherry is their most varied album, and probably the most digestible one. Their new one has bored the hell out of me twice now. Not sure I'll return to it at this point

Yeah Depression Cherry is easily their most varied and lucid album imo
I imagine the new one will grow for quite a few people because it's like their haziest album yet which I hated at first after coming off of DC

It lacks the hooks of their last few albums. I enjoy the opener and a couple others, but it seems pretty weak overall.

Yeah I said in the DP thread that the hooks were complete shit lol, I've changed my mind for the most part guess it just might not be for everyone tho

Depression Cherry just sounds like more Bloom plus more generic shoegaze moments - I’m not a massive fan of it

Weird, I think DC is a lot more fleshed out and a lot less hazy, gonna have to agree to disagree

Teen Dream is more straightforward pop to my ears - ‘Norway’, ‘Walk in the Park’, ‘Used to Be’ etc, quite lo fi in a way

Other than ‘Myth’ and ‘Elegy to the Void’it probably contains the other 8 songs that make up my top 10 Beach House tracks tbh

I’ll see what the new one does for me.

Trouble Maker is good, Lazuli I always thought was just a good intro/average song

At least we all agree that Myth is undeniable

Wild > Myth

Also Lazuli is one of the best

My phone's storage capacity is a measly 16 gb, so the songs I kept from this are: myth, wild, lazuli, other people, trouble maker, new year. So yeah, guess those are my favourites

Hot take, new album has the chops to be their second best imo after a first listen

My two favourites on Bloom are Myth and On the Sea. After that Wild and Hours are the ones that impress me most, plus Irene is a little underrated too.

Lazuli is one of my least faves - by 1:30 on the clock the pattern is set and NOTHING else that interesting happens and it does bore me by the time you reach (lordy!) 5:02.

Teen Dream is close to a 5, really close. Zebra, Norway, Walk in the Park (easily still their best song imo, just the most affecting), Used to Be (their best pop song), 10 Mile Stereo, Real Love and Take Care of Me are all really excellent. Silver Soul and Lover of Mine are a shade behind but still great. Closest to filler is Better Times.

Walk in the park is vastly overrated imo. A great song for sure, but undeserving of the praise it gets from fans
