Always got the sense that Jesu was good for a couple of albums and some EP's and you can mostly ignore everything else.
I'll have to check this new one tho

well this Kev fellow is inevitably going to insist that you immediately go and listen to Everyday I Get Closer to the Light from Which I Came... and as far as this new release Never, it's arguably the most electronic sounding thing that he's put out as jesu (though "Suffocator" kind of reminds me of Conqueror or Ascension)
not sure why he didn't release it as an EP though... it's only 5 tracks and the last one is just an alternate mix of "Never There for You" with his vocals removed as well... which maybe is good because I imagine a lot of people aren't gonna like his vocals on the other 4 tracks

jesu is dead, but i cant rlly blame it, so many great releases early on
he clearly saving all the decent stuff for godflesh now I guess?

Yeah it's arguably the best thing Broadrick's put out along with Fall of Because and the first Godflesh ep

Haven’t heard either lol. Definitely my favourite Jesu though.

You should they're really good just different from this. Agreed this is the best Jesu though it's got some stiff competition.

honestly heartache/dethroned comp might be my fav jesu release but this, pale sketches, and silver are all up there too

check the Pale Sketcher version of that album jesu: Pale Sketches Demixed, I think it's equally as good, and I had been in love with the original version for years before I listened

@pots Those are all up there for me too. Pale Sketches really took me by surprise, that might equal this for me actually.

I haven't visited that heartache/dethroned comp in years so I need to visit that and the pale sketches ep is good but a bit goofy in places but yeah silver is excellent. Honestly Jesu the band maybe my favourite thing that Broadrick's ever done. Have you ever heard the Jesu/Battle of Mice split? The two tracks on that are really good
|
| |
I think so but I hate battle of mice so I think I dismissed it quickly

Ah ok well it's worth revisiting for the Jesu side

You know how they use certain artists to torture people at gitmo
If I was sent there they'd blast Julie Christmas vocals 24/7

Lol, in Julie's defence she was good on that one Cult of Luna album though I can see why it's an acquired taste
