I just felt it was time for a change, plus it's a tribute to maybe my favorite Melvins album, Gluey Porch Treatments

Ahh, don't know how I missed that. Off-topic, but what's your favorite Fugazi record? I can't get away from End Hits and Red Medicine.

My favorite Fugazi record changes periodically, but I've always loved End Hits in particular, there's just something about it. They're all amazing though. Btw you should really check out the documentary about them, Instrument. Lots of awesome live footage and a real insight into the band.

Man, my buddy from St. Louis was just telling me about Instrument the other day -- he said it was the best band/music doc he'd ever seen. The only Fugazi album I've yet to really get into (haven't listened to it much) is The Argument. Other than that I'd say they're all great, with 13 Songs and In on the Kill Taker being my least favs as of now.

I love when Smaller and Smaller breaks down and the drums switch to a swing beat, so delicious...

@bighans: Epic is not one of FNM's worst songs. I could understand you saying The Real Thing isn't as high quality as Angel Dust, but Epic is an appropriately titled song. Sure, I have personal bias because it hooked me as a kid, but it also contains what could be the strongest chorus of the entire FNM catalog. There are definitely worse songs than Epic. How about Falling To Pieces?

ooh I love Falling to Pieces haha.
Also Underwater Love, The Morning After and especially The Real Thing. And Edge of the World. Man, that albums a classic too.

if I tried to list my favorite songs from Angel Dust it would end up with me just repeating the entire track list in some random order.

Underwater Love is incredible. As the Worm Turns (Patton vocal) is my favorite FNM track. Live at Brixton has the best performances of all The Real Thing era songs. DVD is awesome.

Live at Brixton is one of my favorite live dvds ever. sooooo good. I do love the way Patton used the higher, more soulful vocals a lot more on The Real Thing -- that's what I really love about the record, the immediate catchiness of it.
Angel Dust has just so many more facets to it and it grows like fuck so it edges out The Real Thing in my book.

Maybe its just because its burned into my brain, but the only thing I like about Epic is the piano part at the end. Honestly, the only song I don't like more on The Real Thing is Woodpecker From Mars.

Woodpecker From Mars just drags on a little to far for me. Hmm.... I feel a song-ranking coming on... buuaaaa!!...
Underwater Love
The Real Thing
The Morning After
Edge of the World
Falling To Pieces
Zombie Eaters
From Out of Nowhere
Surprise! Your Dead!
War Pigs
Epic
Woodpecker From Mars
Yeah, I guess I'm with you Hans. I think it's for the same reason too, it's just been too overplayed for the last 20 years.

chambered: Haha, that's a tough one.. I'd say Midlife Crisis, Kindergarten, A Small Victory, Land of Sunshine, Caffeine and Smaller and Smaller are at least equally as good. But I'd say that everything on Angel Dust is better than:
Zombie Eaters
From Out of Nowhere
Surprise! Your Dead!
War Pigs
Epic
Woodpecker From Mars

"HA HA HAHA HA." Not mocking you Inveigh, just quoting the part in "the Morning After."

I'm also not crazy about Woodpeckers.. and I don't have much love for War Pigs.
Whenever FNM comes up in convo, I always rant and rave about As the Worm Turns.. but I really don't think enough people have heard it.
