I mean, lyrics are important with certain kinds of music, but this is R&B. How good do you really expect the lyrics to be?

It's r&b; the lyrics should, at the least, be decent

The lyrics are just as important on his releases as the production and melodies. For me anyway

Right, same. How could you even enjoy a song like "Wicked Games" without getting something out of the lyrics?

I can see how some r&b is not reliant on the lyrical side of things, but this guy has such conviction in what he's saying that it's pretty hard not to take notice.

I'm not saying the lyrics aren't important to the feeling of the album, I'm just saying I don't care if they're amazing lyrics or not. He doesn't have to be a fucking poet to get his point across.

Alright. Well, lyrics don't really need to have some sort of intense poetic depth in order for them to be good or amazing. I suppose that's what you meant by "how good" they are. If they are important to the feeling of the album (as you say), poor lyrics would obviously lessen its overall quality/detract from your enjoyment and good lyrics would add to it so I don't get the "don't care" thing.
