"but on the review, dev, i feel like this is where your electronic music elitism does you a disservice;
i believe you that this is awful, but surely there's a better reason as to why it's awful than "fuck
brostep""
this is exactly what I think.
I'm getting so sick of musical elitists who think they know better and are capable of mobbing entire genres. God. I don't like this either, but I don't HATE it. How could I? come on, as bad as this could be, a 0,5????? please. I don't get how you can review an album without actually doing so, but that's what you apparently do. anyway...

Staff wars. Bring it on guys

I didn't know giving 0.5/5's were possible.

He did review it, just in a different manner than you'd like (apparently).

First song is extremely generic. I love Korn, but this is not good.

why you give dis a .5?

the reviewer meant 5, he accidentally put a point in front

You know, with all do respect, I think a 0.5 is ridiculous. They didn't just take a shit and record it. Maybe this shouldn't have been considered a Korn album but there are certainly some decent songs on here, a lot of good ideas can be heard and there's always a pretty catchy melody. It's a collaboration. It's different, it's not trash though.

No one has ever taken a shit and recorded it as an album. The scale for 0.5 doesn't start at the sound of taking a shit. And no, there are no good ideas that can be heard.

"why you give dis a .5?"
Hey guys, I've just thought of an amazing new invention called a music review that might answer this question
|
| |
but on the review, dev, i feel like this is where your electronic music elitism does you a disservice; i believe you that this is awful, but surely there's a better reason as to why it's awful than "fuck
brostep
There is, and the answer is that this is the one of the worst things I've ever heard. Me hating it has nothing to do with the genre, or what style of that genre this album falls into. But the reason, to me, why this album is so dreadful is not because it attempts to tap into the success of this scene (even though to me, that already renders the album as being dreadfully hollow) but that its terribly executed. Everything on here is just stereotypical, the whole album is just one big cliche
I make allusions to this particular style as being more than a little simple-minded and derivative but there isn't a point here where I actually say "fuck brostep". But I do think the style has already martyred itself though, mainly because every man and his dog is trying to get in on it (this album being a case in point)

Finally got around to listening to this. Pretty solid. Much better than expected, actually. Not every track is a winner, but there is enough variation between songs like "Cannibal," "Bleeding Out" and "Tension" to keep things interesting.
Staff reviews should come from a person knowledgeable about the music, but not so strongly inclined to worship or belittle the style of music and/or the particular artist that the bulk of their opinion is immutably formed prior to even listening to the album itself. I've been seeing far too many of those reviews recently. They're worthless.
This sure as hell isn't a 0.5 in comparison to current mainstream rock, alt-metal or dub-metal acts. If you can provide an argument as to why it is, I'd love to read it. I couldn't find it anywhere within the "review."

I sometimes feel like Dev took this album a little bit close to heart, as if Korn made this album solely to just piss him off.

This is a horrible excuse for a review; obviously dripping with pre-ordained intention. I just can't take it seriously. It's quite obvious when you fail to cite any song in particular, and rant about the very *idea* of the album for most of your "review" that you failed completely to give the album even a scrap of a chance. You just never humored it. I hate that. Coupled with the 0.5, this is a review that you shouldn't have written. In my eyes, your credibility is now ruined.
Now that the time for forwardness is done, I'll tell you something. I love electronica music. It's great. I also like my pop/rock music. Yes, I was afraid of mixing them. I didn't think it would work. But I truly think it did here. I'm not saying this album is perfect (it could have been so much more), but the idea itself is great to me. The key to enjoying it is, in my opinion, conceding that it's *rock music* infused with "brostep". That is, it's more rock than brostep. That's quite clear to me when listening.
Also - just thought of this now - your "brostep" terminology is another sign of your bias, along with the fact that you already admitted to disliking most of the DJs featured on The Path of Totality. I'm telling you, you shouldn't have reviewed this.

It is a genre very close to his heart though, and he was the one who helped bring it to Sputnik before it hit anywhere else really so a little bit of personal disgruntlement can be expected?
