No everything is not perfect. How can you all rate this a five the guys' vocals are terrible. They're a really cool band yes, I agree. Snake Oil is a wonderful song too. The vocals just ruin it for me though...
Before you all tell me I need to "let this grow on me"... I've given it plenty of spins.
All this 'Classic album' stuff from you guys seems like needless hyperbole to me.

For anyone else that cares and didn't already know, like me, the sample in Ectoplasm is a Charles Manson quote and in Never Dead a quote from the movie adaptation.

@Ghostly Phoenix The guys vocals aren't great, but that's the thing that makes them good imo. If he WAS a good singer and sang like some kind of angel, it wouldn't be the same to me. Personally, I love his vocals. they help shape the sound that Trophy Scars have made for themselves.
Don't just give it multiple spins like it's some sort of job. It's music, meant for you to enjoy. Maybe the vocals won't click for you, but you can't deny the beauty in their music. The lyrics are awesome. I didn't 5 this right away, but it really got me in the first 3 days. Since it's been out, It's all I've basically listened to. It's an album that I know I will be listening to (and recommending) for a very long time. Experiment with the ways of listening to it. Sometimes music can catch you off guard like that. Shit, my favorite album of all time hit me when I was eating rice at the dinner table (it was also the first time I'd heard it).

I do enjoy this. It's not a five in my opinion (a four maybe). You're entitled to yours all I'm saying is I don't understand you how could have possibly derived it.
His vocals do suit the music, but just feel overexaggeratedly poor to me. If he was 20% less gravelley and a little less cloying I'd like it a lot more than I do.
I'm not normally picky about vocals either, I mean I can listen to something like La Dispute without being bothered at all.

As someone who has been listening to TS since their post-hardcore days, the major change from Alphabets to Bad Luck was a little jarring, but since Darkness and this, they've simply perfected their little niche. Jerry is a fantastic vocalist for Trophy Scars, but in any other band not so much.
Who am I kidding, I'd love it no matter what was behind his voice.
