if nothing else this is likely at least the most infectious album from 2011 I've heard so far. I seriously cannot get Pensacola out of my head at all. This grows on me microscopically with each listen...

I did knott know that adam, but at least it can make an impact on my own lastfm page.
as far as comparing this to tdag, i dont think they have a great deal of similarities...other than from a personal perspective, and how much i loved them upon first listen and each subsequent listen

Apprehension is incredible.
Leaky Breaks really brings the album down though, for me.

I don't understand comparing this to TDAGARIM at all, other than that they're both 5's.

Leaky breaks is my least favourite track tbh. It's still good, though

This whole thing is flawless from start to finish. Holy shit.

Their entire discography; for me; has never really kicked off anything other than 'it's okay'.
The lyrics at times are solid but the music and structure never really compliment each other. Nothing ever compliments each other. There is no romance between the individual elements and I feel song have been written with one aspect in mind.

I think Simple Math is absurdly dynamic. Everything on this CD complements each other.
As far as their earlier stuff, it may have been a bit raw, but there was still plenty of "romance between individual elements", which I'm not sure what you mean but I'm going to assume you once again mean complementary elements.

Take for instance the title track on Simple Math. Great lyrics, good music, bad structure. The song sort of falls apart on itself. Nothing ever feels solid with them and in Simple Math; always try to dip into every pocket grand moments in almost every song.
I didn't think it was a bad album though. I just wished for more concentration and subtlety.

I love Manchester Orchestra but Pensacola sounds way too much like Fun. at the end of the song. Like instrumentals and vocals all exactly. In fact most of the songs from this album seem to have heavy influences from other bands which is hard to avoid, but the similarity with Fun., who is a very unique band, is hard to ignore. Also anyone else noticing the instrumentals for Simple Math are the same as Golden Ticket but just slower and transcribed to piano? I have no problem with that, I think thats awesome, kind of like Thrice and the ending piano part to Deadbolt being the same as the intro to In Years to Come except as guitar and sped up.
