Favorite part of this EP is the very end of the title track where almost everything fades out except the vocals.

Really? I find that to be the weakest one here

I did as well for quite a while, but I fucking love it now. I don't really know how to explain why I like it more now because I'm not really sure what I was missing initially. But it has that same constant atmospheric texture throughout that he's showing on his Paradise Circus remix now, and the whole "Nobody loves me" sample is just fucking perfect for it IMO.

I guess the simplest explanation is just that I'm struck way more by the atmosphere of it than I initially was.

Maybe I'm just being pedantic, but he overuses those kick pads. Like it seems as if it's constantly building up to something, plus it creates this kind of groove in the beat which offsets the mournful tone of the track

It's kind of tied with Street Halo for me. I love the atmosphere of NYC but the dynamic of Street Halo will always be incredible. Stolen Dog is definitely my least favorite, though I still love that track too.

Like, 'NYC' starts off and the first thing i thought of was "oh, 'Fostercare Part 2' but then it gets all kind of upbeat with that percussion arrangement and it feels kind of strange to me

dev let's talk. my roommate refuses burials alliance to dubstep. i don't really know if I'm quoting correctly but it does dive enough to him. no significant drops and the bpm are the only thing he has to claim a name too.

Tell him dubstep ain't just about the drops, it's about dubbed out garage beats and that's exactly what Burial is

I think the percussive elements sound a bit broken and fragile which fits the atmosphere pretty much perfectly. It's definitely a repetitive rhythm but it adds familiarity, and then when they're taken away in the middle of the track, they're kind of missed until they come back, which just adds so much strength to the sound behind the vocal sample.

the wikipedia article is actually decent though, and even explains what brostep is for people like fti's roommate.
