Metal is alright as long as there isn't much of any screaming in it...Bullet For My Valentine is as close as I get to that genre, and that is only "Waking the Demon" and "Your Betrayal". Oh and also "Redemption" by Shadows Fall.

Everything else that is heavy metal or metalcore, etc. disgusts me. (Just my thoughts, everyone has their own musical tastes)

I hope your boy John Axford on the Brewers doesn't make it a point to give up 4 runs every inning for the rest of the season, or else half my fantasy teams are ******

eeeeh those bands are pretty bad. But then again most of the metal I listen to is full of screaming.

Actually, music is a new thing in my life. In my junior year of college I was screwing around with my roomie, who had just picked up guitar Hero 3.

Rise Against's song Prayer of the Refugee was on that game. And HOLY FUCKING SHIT, it was good. So, I picked up Sufferer from my local library.

AND HOLY FUCKING SHIT PRAYER WAS THE WORST TRACK ON THE ALBUM!

So, it was around then that I got into music. That was like three years ago.

Maybe now you can see why I expect so much of Rise Against. They are the titans who got me into music, and they're now releasing stuff that just does not flow with me.

After Rise Against, it was Thrice, and then I started exploring metalcore (via Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge) and all the various metal subgenres.

Basically, I like metal a lot, but I'm probably more of a punk.

Metal "disgusts". LOL. I like you BB28.

Ahhh, I think we may have the answer for your high expectations there Daniel. Have you heard 'Prayer' live? Absolutely unbelievable. It completely transforms into one of their best songs.

Most of us on this site are poor, so Rise Against it is.

With your sense of prose and word play I doubt I need to explain my light handed insult aimed at the band in question sir. ;^)

I've seen RA live once, and it was amazing. Prayer was one of their better songs, Tim just got so damn raw on his cleans and sounded fantastic, and Principe's bass was up loud. Sounded spectacular.

I've seen them live three times and they were always great, and I liked the records before in one or another way but with this record they arrived at the bottom of mediocrity.

This has grown on me a bit. Favorites are "Satellite", "Midnight Hands", "Survivor Guilt", and "A Gentleman's Coup."

"Tim just got so damn raw on his cleans and sounded fantastic, and Principe's bass was up loud. Sounded spectacular."

Well summarized Daniel. They were the 2 things that stood out for me too.

"with this record they arrived at the bottom of mediocrity."

Harsh man, very harsh.

"This has grown on me a bit."

Yep, if anything, it's growing on me too. It's just a matter of enjoying the album for what it is & not solely rating it against their previous releases.

Hah, you are lucky you got the privilege to see them live! I've got nothing right now other than that House of Blues concert on YouTube (where I got the Chamber the Cartridge link), which is great quality, don't get me wrong, best I've seen on the internet, but nothing like the true live experience.

They are in Chicago for the new tour, and that's only a three hour drive away, but unfortunately that's not going to happen anytime soon. Parents aren't fans at all and I'm only 16. Got a couple friends that are huge fans, but it's just not going to happen. Ugh, Rise Against, I will have to see you some other time in the (hopefully near) future. :/

I'm driving three hours to see them (and Bad Religion) next week for the third time, it's always worth it and I don't even really like these guys on record much.

yeah i keep waiting for them to retire or start to suck, but those nerdy/paunchy 45 year olds still fucking destroy live.

i'm not a fan of this, but i'd still like to see RA live again, let alone with BR.

Enjoy guys. There has been rumours of BR touring down under every year for about 5 years now.

Found my self liking this a bit more than I expected. Although it might not be direction I hoped they

would take with a new album. Still there's something undeniably appealing with Rise againsts music.
