Second best behind Meliora for sure. It starts to feel a little samey towards the end but it’s not a big deal when the record is only 30 something minutes.

You could really tell these guys had something special with this project, even from the beginning… still I don’t think anyone expected them to get to the level they’re at right now.

Yeah agreed. Funny enough, I loved Infestissumam and didn't care for Opus when I was younger. Now I've completely reversed my opinions. I like the rough edges of Opus and Infestissumam just feels irritatingly gimmicky.

Yep, there’s a lot of good songs there, obv Year Zero is pretty much iconic at this point, Zombie Queen and Monstrance Clock are both pretty great too as far as yeah they’re kinda gimmicky but they’re executed well enough… but man the Body and Blood - Idolatrine - Depth of Satan’s Eyes stretch is pretty dire, all three just feel like Opus tracks left on the cutting room floor and stitched up to fill runtime.

But goddamn Secular Haze is fucking terrible. I remember when I first heard of this band, they were opening up for Avenged Sevenfold and Deftones, that was the song I first heard, I wrote them off and thought they were absolute clowns. Then they absolutely killed live and I’ve been a fan ever since. But man what a whack song, it really might be their worst and, as much as I love these guys, they have a few fuckin stinkers.

Infest is pretty easily their worst record front to back but there’s a few gems in there. I never loved Jigolo Har Megiddo either but they did a little acoustic rendition one time I saw them and that was honestly lovely. I wish they’d have recorded it.

Agreed on Secular Haze. Absolutely God awful.

My top three tracks on Infest are probably Per Aspera Ad Inferi, Jigolo Har Megiddo, and Year Zero.
