@Voivod: They played a number of concerts, I think mostly festivals and not a regular tour, but it is definitely more than a one off for at least more than one year.

But, yeah, I am also torn regarding if they should do a new record. As it was said above, it could kinda tarnish their legacy if it wasn't on par with Written In Waters...

Considering the musicians involved I highly doubt they would release something that would tarnish their legacy.

Just discovered this one recently and damn what a gem it is! The bass here is phenomenal. Not to mention the songwriting in general. Might oughta be a 5 fr

The Jackson Pollock reference from the review is a fine analogy.

I imagine nothing they could produce will ever top this for obvious reasons, but that doesn't mean a new album would automatically disappoint or 'spoil their legacy'. Yeah I suppose the mystique might evaporate somewhat... does that really matter though? Not for me.

I'd much rather 'risk' a potentially disappointing comeback album than have nothing else at all in most cases. This isn't about VBE btw (only a recent fan myself)... but do I care that ATD-I released a poor imitation of a comeback now it's over? No, they killed it live when I saw them, that release is now irrelevant. Am I concerned Gospel will tarnish their legacy with a new album? No, what will be will be. I'd rather have something potentially decent than nothing at all. That's a more suitable parallel as well considering they (like VBE) were a one-and-done (LP) band.

If these guys release a new album this year then it's over. 2022 would be the best year ever for music, not debatable.

Revisited for the first time since a very long time.

It's unbelievable how many creative metal bands came from Norway during that wave of bm.

A true classic

They are playing in London UK this September, and I'm seriously considering attending, it's one of the few holy grails left for me as a metalhead (one other is Meshuggah)
