I know precisely what you’re talking about lol the reviews for this war is ours are what made me curious about review sites in general and I eventually joined this site around the time anarchistfish wrote the review for the drug in me is you. My first comment(now deleted after a long term ban) was in that thread I believe-that or Greeley Estates 😂 . You’d be surprised how many og etf fans are still on this site myself included, I was pretty active on escapethefate.net

I was just floored the second I saw this, it was a huge culture shock, I had no idea humans could be this hateful over music, but this thing reads worse now than it did then jesus christ. Like forreal "gayity"??? Is that even a real word

This album still hits me with a mix of nostalgia and emotion I still feel strongly even over 10 years after I first heard it.

Should have been here when this came out lol I had users who now claim to be the most well to do liberals on earth calling me every slur in the book

Thankful that the slur flinging appears to have finally calmed down tbh, it definitely does feel like the venn diagram between hating on this aesthetic and genuine homophobia was a circle for a whiiiiile

i wonder what caused you to start hating Craig era, i think it always did more for me than Ronnie

"Then... power ballad! I wish I was 15 again so I could go through a mild enough breakup to truly appreciate The World Around Me. Why would you put a power ballad in an album that desperately needs less gayity? Clearly ETF's goals lie in revitalizing glam rock and everything it represented, to do all the damage it did to the music world once again."

Truly riveting writing in 2011 LMFAO

Craig tried too hard to be Ronnie and wasn’t able to carry over his own unique qualities from btf to etf. Pair that with the remaining members of the original lineup lacking talent and not being able to rekindle the magic they had during the DiYLF days we ended up with a lot of really bland soulless music bereft of any interesting ideas. To me Ronnie and Omar were the two most crucial members of the og lineup and without them this band couldn’t and shouldn’t have continued.

tbf i don't think ronnie was capable of something as powerful as the final 2 songs on this album, if you're allergic to the balladry i get not liking world around me, but the aftermath slaps tbh

I don’t think I hated the Craig era(which btw is still going on lol) I just grew out of it and found better music. I was always pro Craig during the feud because he was an overall better person and his work with btf is right there with Ronnie’s best work with etf and falling in reverse’s debut. You have this 5d so it’s likely fruitless to pursue any further discussion about the quality of the Craig era material but yes I just find 0 redeeming qualities about it. I will say I know every lyric to every song off this and this war is ours tho lol.

there was a period where i thought i was outgrowing this but like 6 months later I was falling right back in right where I used to be, i feel like no matter how many great albums I find, stuff like this will just come calling right back again yknow?

i was mostly speaking in general, a lot of people hated that song which mystified me lol

Feel the same about dying is your latest fashion, his last walk, dear diary… etc I’ve even come around on the drug in me is you. The death of Greeley estates is also essential listening

Oh Greeley Estates is sick, that's completely fair, Dear Diary is another banger. I think I'm just tiring out of anything Radke related that isn't early ETF, or maybe I just think he needs to shut up and sing lol

I don’t pay attention to him or his current goings on lol I just enjoy his old tunes. I was caught up hard in the Craig v Ronnie stuff back in 08 tho. Here’s a fun vid for you https://youtu.be/oq4YCt1Pw84?si=eoZhBnuyd0zlTZ5z . This is the first live performance with Craig and the debut of the flood. Max makes a quip at the beginning saying “this song is called if I can stay clean I can stay with my band” and you hear Ronnie screaming from the front row “I can stay fucking clean!”
