theyre better on the stream than they were on the last few lps (maybe a lack of touring helped?) but, to my ears at least, since dead throne they've been slippin. its all good tho since dead throne is my favorite full length so its smth i can look past

He's sounded fine on everything imo, he just sounds different on every release. I like the older style of vocals that were more polished but I also really like the newer style that sound more raw and almost painful/tortured sounding.

I liked the act

EP is all I've been listening to today. Can't wait to hear these riffs on the studio versions

@SaveBandit gets it.

A lot of you misinterpret artistic choices for vocal ability. I've been this band 6 times (from WRAABB to Space EP) and he always had consistency as a vocalist. He has just chosen to take a more post-hardcore take that, like Bandit said, sounds more raw and intentionally painful.

I have been hearing the same old "Mike's vocals are washed" for about 12 years now.

12 years of screaming is a lot, and the fact that he sounds just as guttural during Danger Wildman as he did in 2009 says something.

If it is an artistic choice (which I am beginning to accept it is considering I have heard him sound great live recently) then clearly a lot of us are just not fond of the artistic choice that was made. I feel Mike sounded best on Zombie and Dead Throne and think his vocals sounded the worst by far on The Act. Whether is is his ability deteriorating or it being an artistic choice is irrelevant to me.

Pumped for Zombie 2s drop based off the livestream! Sounded a hell of a lot better than the act.

It might be irrelevant to your opinion of the music, but it's relevant to the artists that made it (and others opinions).

I have no qualms with people disliking Mike's artistic choices (even I have issues with releases like 8:18), but I'd rather these opinions be regarding the truth: it's about his choices, not his talent.

Sure, I get what you're saying. I think people have just assumed it wasn't a choice (myself included) because they didn't understand/like the choice that was made. Over the years its become more apparent its a choice given his live capabilities.

I think there def was a period of time where Mike’s vocals were deteriorating, but from the teaser tracks on Z2 they seem to have come back - I was actually surprised at how good he sounded.

He is definitely one of those frontmen I look at and am appalled at how he has stayed able to scream. I was at the Dead or Alive DVD taping show in Mass and he did not sound good there at all, but damn does he have insane stage presence and energy. Just remember him being absolutely drenched in sweat and drained by the end.

Enter Shikari were also there and fucking killed it, of course.

I'm slightly disappointed at the bass on the studio version compared to the session ones but other than that it's pretty much on par with Zombie 1

“My will is at God’s hands, never within man’s teeth” *choir intensifies*

Fuck, still one of the coolest moments in metal music. Fucking shit.
