no he's not but fans of BoC and Aphex generally get along well with his music.

it's atmospheric in similar ways, I guess.

Autechre, Aphex and BOC appear to have the most fervent followings so those are definitely good starting points.

also, lol @ Gwyn's comment about the vast majority of IDM sounding boring and pretentious. There's definitely some truth in that, but here's a couple of legally free albums that you can grab if you want:

Rolando Simmons' "Volumes (collector's edition)":

http://rolandosimmons.bandcamp.com/album/volumes-collectors-edition

Honestly don't know why he would go for the name-your-price option, but I guess the honor system is in full effect here. Either that or I'm just hearing something that others aren't. It's 38 tracks, which sounds excessive, but it's far from monotonous and showcases some serious craft and potential imo. Currently my favorite electronic release of the year.

Venetian Snares "Thank You For Your Consideration"

Rossz Csillag Allat Született is my favorite by the man, but this record seems like a pretty good entryway into the utter madness that is Venetian Snares.

I've heard shit tons of IDM and the vast mayority of it are just people copying either Afx, BoC or ae (or all 3) and almost none of them are good

But I didn't say all

There's a ton of all 3 (especially afx/ae) on that but it's one of the good ones

I haven't been listening to this in full yet, neither have I listened to Autechre yet, but the songs I've heard so far from this album is absolutely beautiful.

This whole album is pretty beautiful

There's not really much Autechre that sounds like this so if you're looking for something similar in them you'll have to dig deep. I'd suggest going chronologically if you wanna get into them

Probably his least accessible album, so much stuff going on it's hard to work it all out even after 15+ listens.
